Do the Planet Dignities offer a Path into the Mysteries?

  • Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts 280 Pitt Street Sydney, NSW, 2000 Australia (map)

We’re back in person for our October meetup as we gather once again at the Sydney Mechanics School of Arts.

We explore the depths of the Essential Dignities, those special allocations of planet energy. Intrinsic to classical and medieval Astrology, the ‘domicile rulers’ and ‘exaltations’ are our prime focus. The planetary gender of masculine and feminine signs tells a fascinating story when viewed through the lens of Dignities. Rather than the cultural skews that typify the minefield which is human gender, dignities are extremely democratic. Alternation rules!

The planetary symbols themselves, are each a unique expression of the three prime icons – the circle of spirit, half circle of soul and the cross of matter. Tradition has been honoured in the glyphs for the later discovered transpersonal planets of Uranus, Neptune, Pluto. These symbols designate a whole field of forces, carrying ancient meanings, which we will investigate through their mythic links.

Movement and mystery go together! We will briefly explore Pluto’s 2025/26 transit dance with Uranus and Neptune, as all three shift signs. From Earth & Water, we shift dramatically to all Air & Fire signs. First of the transpersonal planets, already in shift, is of course Pluto. It so happens that the Mars conjunction with Pluto in February 2024, extends until late April 2025 before the final opposition, due to its Retro cycle. The meeting of Saturn and Neptune on 0 degree Aries, is another climactic point in a rare changing of the ‘guards’. Signs ruled by Saturn, Mars and Mercury are soon taking centre stage.  Let us discuss what mysterious doors may open.

BIOGRAPHY

Christine feels immensely grateful to have found Astrology as a vocation, having shifted from an academic career nearly forty years ago. Since Astrology interfaces the mysteries of birth patterns and planetary cycles, it is endlessly fascinating. Her three passions are one to one astrology readings, teaching, and writing.

Christine writes the Stargazing Column for Australian WellBeing magazine and the Travelling Astrologer column for NZ’s AFI journal. She has presented at the Sophia Centre Conference in Bath, UK and published in their Celestial Magic Issue of their Journal.

In recent years, soul-path awareness has been a theme in her work.  This influences her astro-mentor program, workshops, and Retreats. While Australian, her official home is New Zealand. She comes back to Sydney for a few months twice a year, and offers Retreats in both countries.
